One Saturday night the wife and I spent hours watching all the Michael Jackson music videos on MTV. Seeing his body of work like this was unbelevable. This was my favorite.
Playing a solo gig here with Stephane Beaussart on dobro. This song was relesed on Ryan Bingham’s 2007 record “Mescalito”. Its a great CD. If your into soulful alt-countryish rock.
Bruce Hornsby went on to win a Grammy for this tune in 1990 for the recording he did with Nitty Gritty Birt Band. He does the tune here with New Grass Revival, Jerry Douglas and I think Mark O’Connor.
Robert Randolph comes out to play dobro with the band. This tune and “Baby Hold On” below are from the euphoric studio release Euphoria. The rest of the show is available for download over here.
Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck & The Flecktones comes out to play sax with the band. Also, a guy named Joe plays the Acordian to add that Cajan Slamgrass flavor. Find this complete NightGrass show over here.

The is is the encore jam from the show posted on Mile High Bobby’s Sights & Sounds. Also find a great version of “Rainbows Cadillac” posted there and a first hand account of the experince. I recall Robb’s anticipation for this show which became my introduction to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. At the time he was living in a basment apartment and had a printout of the line up on the door of his empty fridge. I didn’t know why this highly handled piece of paper demanded so much of his attention. And how was I to know that the Telluride Bluegrass Festival would become so foundational to my deep love of American Music.
